As you all know the simple proverb “Health is Wealth”. Health is well defined by WHO (World Health Organization) that it is the Physical, Mental, Social and Financial wellbeing of a person.

As our CENT programs are focused mainly on various Entrepreneurial aspects and prospects, I restrict my write-up mainly to “Healthcare of our Entrepreneurs”.

In this modern and materialistic world, people are very busy in earning money, and they do not have time to sit and enjoy the benefit of money. Especially middle aged Entrepreneurs are very busy in developing their Company sales, increasing their turnover, recruiting additional employees, increasing the coverage, adding more product lines, strengthening their customer base and there by generating more profit.

Generally in the early 40’s, they will have a joint family with one or two grown up children. They compromise their quality time more in Business tours, Meetings, Managing Competitors, adopt all possible methods to survive. They spend less time with their family members and do not look after their health. More mental work with stress and very less physical work. The billionaires will have a different life style, as the money they invested in various business will work for them.

In India, right after Independence, the types of diseases have changed along with increased population. People below poverty line suffered early from deficiency diseases and infections. The middle class of people suffered from chronic and heredity diseases. The rich people (Entrepreneurs) started suffering from so called Life style diseases (Diabetes, Hypertension, Heart diseases and Joint disorders). Few exceptions are also there but very rare.

As the life style modification is very high in India, most of the middle aged Entrepreneurs are suffering from the above types of diseases due to sedentary life and lack of exercise. Though they are aware of all this things and affordable for treatment, knowledge about preventing such diseases is poor.

People are spending their health (from 25 to 40 years of age) to earn the wealth. After that, they will spend their wealth to gain back their health (from 45 to 60 years of age). Many of the chronic diseases are heredity and life style dependent.

Even this Covid 19 pandemic will have its own limitation, at least for one year. But the life style diseases will always persist. Diabetes is going to be the single large disease and a Global Burden in future. Both WHO and IDF(International Diabetes Federation) jointly declared that India is going to be the Capital of Diabetic World.

Apart from it is a metabolic disorder, Diabetes is mainly a vascular disease. It affects all the blood vessels silently and there by affects our vital organs later.

Now, we all should realize that” Health is more than wealth”. As it cannot be cured, it can only be controlled. Management of Diabetes is highly individualized (as per your Dr’s advice) as people will have different body weight, lifestyle, food habits and co-morbid conditions. The main four pillars for Diabetes Management are Diet, Exercise, Drugs (Tablets and Insulin) and Education (patient knowledge).

Hence I sincerely request all Entrepreneurs to maintain your Weight according to your Height, Eat in proportion to your work and do some mild exercise to prevent or postpone vascular complications.

Let us try to create a successful Entrepreneurship for the future generation and a Nation with least Diabetes. It may be difficult but certainly possible.
