Does Artificial Intelligence replace the role and impact created by trainers? - PG S BALAJI (RYLA 4.0)

In 2022, we all saw a famous dialogue in the KGF 2 movie: "Violence, Violence, Violence,I don’t like it; I avoid it. But violence likes me; I can’t avoid it.". At this particular portion, most of us went crazy and enjoyed the scene to the core.

Cut to 2024, i.e., today, most of the big companies recreate the same scenario by saying the same dialogue: “AI.. AI.. AI.. I don’t like it, I avoid it.. But AI likes me; I can’t avoid it.“. Unlike the above scenario, this time everyone gets disappointed and frightened of this. Because of the fear of being replaced by AI.

The current boom of advancement in Artificial Intelligence tools like ChatGPT, Gemini AI and much more has changed many industries, including education and training. This raises an important question: Does AI replace trainers?

Well, The answer isn’t straightforward.

AI has made big progress in education. AI tools can provide personalized learning, check student performance instantly, and give quick feedback. Platforms like Duolingo ( tailored platform for learning language)  use AI to customize lessons for each student, making learning more accessible and tailored. For routine tasks, AI is very efficient.

However, we as a trainer do much more than just deliver content. Good training involves understanding the classroom, creating a supportive environment, and offering emotional and motivational support to trainees which none of the AI can offer. Human trainers bring empathy, intuition, and the ability to adapt to unexpected challenges—things AI can’t fully replicate.

AI can be a great tool for trainers, enhancing their abilities rather than replacing them. For example, AI can manage administrative tasks, giving trainers more time to engage with students. AI can also provide trainers with insights into student progress, helping them to better tailor their teaching. In blended learning environments, AI and human trainers can work together to provide a well-rounded learning experience.

Human trainers are also crucial for developing soft skills like teamwork, communication, and leadership. These skills are best learned through interactive experiences and human mentorship, which AI can’t provide effectively.

In professional settings, trainers often act as mentors and coaches, guiding people in their career growth and helping them handle complex interpersonal dynamics. This mentorship relies on personal experience and the ability to build trusting relationships, which are inherently human qualities.

In conclusion, while AI is a powerful tool that can improve the training process, it doesn’t eliminate the need for human trainers. The future of training will likely involve a mix of AI and human trainers working together. AI can handle repetitive tasks and provide data insights, while human trainers continue to offer the nuanced, empathetic, and adaptive instruction that is essential for effective learning.

In my opinion,” AI never replaces or takes away the role of quality trainers. But a trainer who knows how to use AI effectively for training will definitely replace the one who doesn’t know to use AI." It is time to upgrade ourselves, not only as trainers but in every aspect.

Don’t fear; AI is just another gadget like a phone or computer. Let's upgrade ourselves in this area and give a strong reply to AI, i.e., “நான் வீழ்வேன் என்று நினைத்தாயோ?”
